The only way to live as God wants us to live now so as to qualify for a place in His coming Kingdom is to learn what He has written for us in the Bible. We want to study:
To know what we believe.
Jesus said, “Search the Scriptures” (John 5:39).
The apostle Paul said, “Study to show thyself approved unto God” (2 Tim. 2:15). And “Give your complete attention to these matters. Throw yourself into your tasks so that everyone will see your progress” (1 Tim. 4:15).
To be able to defend what we believe.
“If you are asked about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it.” Most of all, “you must do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak evil against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ.” —1 Peter 3:15-16 (NLT)
To learn how to live so as to be most useful to ourselves and others and to please God.
“All things that pertain to life and godliness, [come] through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue” —2 Peter 1:3
“He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?” —Micah 6:8
“…Walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, …Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.” —Eph 4:1, 31-32
