Many people realize that December 25 is not the true date of Christ’s birth. But most aren’t concerned. They like the holiday, and want to celebrate with friends and family. They don’t mind if it is of pagan origin—what does that matter?
A few Scriptures speak directly to this situation. God never wanted His people associated with anything pagan, be it holiday or home worship or any custom. What did Jeremiah say?
Jeremiah 10:2 2Thus says the Lord: “Do not learn the way of the Gentiles; Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, For the Gentiles are dismayed at them.
It was built into the law that they were not even to mention the names of pagan gods or the practices of the worships.
Deuteronomy 13:1–3 1“If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives you a sign or a wonder, 2and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, ‘Let us go after other gods’—which you have not known—‘and let us serve them,’ 3you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for the Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
Socializing to celebrate a Saturnalia or any type of false worship, service or festivity was strictly forbidden. An absolute NO! Moses told the Israelites:
Deuteronomy 13:6–8 6“If your brother, the son of your mother, your son or your daughter, the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is as your own soul, secretly entices you, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods,’ which you have not known, neither you nor your fathers, 7of the gods of the people which are all around you, near to you or far off from you, from one end of the earth to the other end of the earth, 8you shall not consent to him or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him or conceal him;
They were not even to whisper about the worship of other gods privately to their spouse! It would be considered “idolatry” – idol worship!
Nothing about the celebration of Christmas (better X-mas!) is godly—it is a false worship of commercialism, buying and selling. What is the command for us?
2 Corinthians 6:17 17Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”
We would like to share a portion of a video in which a Rabbi gives evidence for a spring date of Christ’s birth. He does not understand the true nature of Christ or the reason for His birth, but you will appreciate several of his points.
When was Christ REALLY born?
Christmas is a time that gives license to drinking and merrymaking and many other abominable things. The evidence shows that it is of pagan origin, and a form of idol worship which we abhor! The command was: “come out from the world, touch no unclean thing.” To celebrate a forbidden pagan festival brought the penalty of death!
The Bible says, “ALL SHOULD HONOR THE SON JUST AS THEY HONOR THE FATHER” (John 5:23). The so-called Christian world chose this day to observe Christ’s birth. Does honoring the god Saturn, honor Christ? Of course not! It is IDOLATRY!
We have followed the lord’s command and separated ourselves from this pagan festival. and we are so very thankful we can!
